The Termites Elite Tunnel Guard, is the strongest fighter available to the Termites (or any other species for that matter). The Elite serves a single purpose, to throw itself into hordes of enemy invaders, to protect its King and Queen, it is the very last line of Defense. The crushing power of this caste will kill most invaders with a single hit.

Just like its junior counterpart, this castes over-grown mandibles are so large that it is unable to care for is own health. The Elite Tunnel Guard stays underground with the King and Queen, its jaws are so incredibly large that it cannot surface(*read further on this).

The Elite Tunnel Guard has a special ability to help stop attacks before it's too late. When stationed beside a critical nest structure that gets destroyed(by an enemy), it can sacrafice itself, pushing through the ruble of the collapsed nest, it faces its opposition on the surface until it dies, sometimes even closing the hole behind itself. It may never return to the underground (but may roam the dirt tiles).

This special ability has a varying affect with different critical structures:
Hatchery: 1 Elite can surface, Closing the opening.
Chamber: 1 Elite can surface, Leaving an opening.
Watch Tower: up to 16 Elites can surface! Leaving an opening.

As you can see, when the tower is destroyed, all Elites sitting around it underground, will surface to fight. Also note that the Elites behaviour differs from most castes, it attempts to stand its ground, and always aims for the enemy closest to itself.
